In Psalm 119 of the Bible, each section begins with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Seemed like a good idea to me so I did the same.
Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You are the creator of all things.
Before there was time, you were. You hold the universe in your hand.
Creation cries out of your beauty and majesty. There is none greater than you.
Dreams cannot fathom your greatness. Imagination fails to understand your awesomeness.
Everything in the earth was made by and for you. Nothing that is exists without you.
Forever will your greatness be declared in the heavenlies. Time will not fade your gloriousness.
Great are your mercies. Your grace never ceases nor diminishes.
Holy are you Lord beyond comparison. Your majesty will last for eternity.
Inside me you have created a longing for you; a thirst that cannot be quenched without you.
Justice and judgment are your hallmarks. Sin cannot exist in your presence.
Kindness and goodness come from you. You are the epitome of love.
Long is your patience. You tolerate our failings beyond expectation.
Man can never compare to your goodness. You are without equal.
Never has anyone been as good as you. Never will there ever be.
Only by your grace and mercy can we exist. You love us with an everlasting love.
Precious is your name. Your character is beyond reproach.
Quietness and peace come only from you. In your presence there is no havoc.
Rest for the weary is found in your presence. You quiet the troubled soul.
Sorrow and grief are relieved by your loving embrace. You give comfort to those who hurt.
There will never be another like you for all eternity. You are matchless in your beauty.
Unless you will it, it does not happen. You control the universe with your loving hands.
Vineyards produce wine that cause some to stumble; but nothing compare to drinking in your presence.
Without you I could not exist. You are the reason for my being.
X-ray vision cannot explain your total beauty or see into your heart of love. You remain hidden but in our presence all the time.
You are. Words cannot fully describe you.
Zealous is your love for us. Our thanks can never be enough.

The comfort of noise
Silence.....Quiet.....Stillness.....
How often do we consciously experience it? Do we seek after it or do we avoid it?
I have come to realize that there is a certain comfort to noise and also that I need to spend more time avoiding that comfort.
The noises of life are a distraction. A diversion from a place where I desire (or more truthfully where I want to desire) to be.
The Lord said, (to Elijah) "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
Too often I have allowed my senses to be too bombarded by the "noises" in life to allow me to hear anything remotely like a whisper.
Activity, music, television, reading, thinking, worrying, praying, talking, eating, playing, you name it they are all a form of "noise".
I do not intend for this to be self deprecating or to condemn anyone else. It's just my observation of myself.
Oh Lord help me to revel in the quietness and peace that only you can bring. Keep my life from being so consumed with noise that I cannot hear you.
